Big Fat Shop Update!

One of my YaYas became a grandmother on Wednesday.
If you've never had the privilege of witnessing 4 southern women
(specifically us)
hanging around waiting for Julianna to enter the world,
I highly recommend it.

I'll let you guess who the favorite is, because Julianna.

Namesakes are special, y'all.
They are automatically born
extra awesome people.

In honor of our new girl
I made some necklace/bracelet focal pairs this week,
and I'm putting them on sale for $21.
For BOTH.
Because Love.

New Beachy sets.

New Color combos in fun funky shapes.

Because Summer!

~~

New organics.

Because what's a shop update without some variety?

I'm working on the update now and should have everything listed in a couple of hours.

Go take a peek.

I think you'll be pleased with the prettiness.

And the prices.

Because Beads.

Alabama finally woke up and remembered that it IS, in fact,
Alabama

which means 90 degree temps and 143% humidity

in a studio with no air conditioning

which means the Great Face Melting of 2013 has commenced

and I need beach sand between my toes asap.

First World Problems.
Thank God I has them.

Upcycling ~ apparently I'm not the first to think of it. I'm totally fine with that.

Saturday morning garage salin' for the last year with a couple of my ya yas has several times landed us some funky fun mardi gras beads for L's artist son Matthew.   Being on the lookout for them kept them floating around my brain, and I sat up in bed from a sound sleep one night after seeing in my dreams the beaded picture that the following will soon become.

This is just rough sketched and painted but soon enough it will be all asparkle.

I went online to google glue, as in which would be best for painted canvas and plastic...
and that's when I found THIS.

Specifically this one~

Which made me all giddy inside
because
I finally have proof the voices in my head are real.
Or ya know, at least someone else walking around
thinks like I do.
Which might be scary for the rest of y'all,
but Squee for me!

Also?

It addresses something that is becoming ridiculously prevalent
on social media sites:

Copying.
(especially in the beading world)

Seriously?
I wish everyone would get over themselves.
We are not new.
Nothing we do is new.
It is entirely possible for 2 or 100 people
to have similar ideas,
to create similar works,
to be inspired in like ways.

It doesn't discount that ideas are original to each person.
It doesn't mean someone copied.
It doesn't take away from one person
because someone else made something similar.

People throw their ideas and art
out into the internet world
like they are first
and should be the only,
like there aren't a grazillion
other people walking around with
creative abilities and ideas
and dreams.

There's room enough for everyone, y'all.

I'm not saying copying doesn't happen.
I'm saying that an artist,
someone who creates from a NEED to create
doesn't waste time caring
if she is copied.

The good ones
are too busy moving on
to the next idea,
the next creation,
the next expression of themselves.

And now for yesterday's beads~

Because your light?

Let it shine.
